What Shipping CrissColfer Means To Me (and What It Most Certainly Does Not)
I’m not quite sure how I fell into shipping CrissColfer, let alone writing RPF, but I think it’s mostly because I love the two men so much that the idea of them together spelt out so much awesomeness and wonder and possible shenanigan adorableness for me.

They are both such wonderful, magical unicorns of human beings that are so perfectly perfect that I naturally held a hope that they would adore each other (whether that be bromance or more) because they simply are so similar and such lovely, talented, ambitious people.

IN SAYING THAT, in my opinion there is a fine, fine line when it comes to shipping CrissColfer. I will joke about it on the internet - squeal over the flirty little moments they have, analyse small details, say CrissColfer forever, etc etc, however when people start tweeting RPF to the cast or telling Darren he should “just tell everyone [he’s] gay already”, I start to get really frustrated.

The Chris Colfer and Darren Criss I write about in my RPF are my Chris Colfer and Darren Criss. They are fictional characters inspired by real people that are fun to write and have gotten into my head and given themselves headcanon just like every other character (or real life person) has from the show. It is a natural thing for me to expand on people I admire in my head and to look at their personality traits and wonder about how they might act behind closed doors, and RPF is a way of exploring that and sharing it.

If Darren was truly gay and did fall in love with Chris, it would be beautiful and I would love it and go crazy just like anyone else would. However, Darren is straight, and as his fans we need to respect that and not personally attack him with our own concepts and ideas of what his life should be like. In saying that though, we have every right to be creative and love the concept, because privately and together on tumblr, we have every capacity to.

I will always ship CrissColfer, but there is a line, and I really can’t stand it when people either cross that line, or call fans disgusting for shipping it, so this was just my way of explaining my feelings about it. So if I’m still a creeper, or a weirdo, even though I understand the lines between fiction and reality and constructing a reality based fiction for fun, all I can say now is this.
